Cream Contour vs. Powder Contour

Cream Contour vs. Powder Contour

As many of you know contouring is a popular technique used by many makeup artists, beauty brands, and consumers. The purpose of contouring is to define, enhance and sculpt the structure of the face or body parts. But which product type achieves better results? Which type is easier to use? And which application looks the most natural? I’ve used many different contour palettes through the years and I have to say I have come across some products I love and some I dislike. I believe as a beginner it is much easier to use a powdered contour palette or bronzer because you can start off with very little product and build up slowly and with more control. Powder is also great for people on the go that don’t really have time to sit and blend out an entire look. If I have to pick between the two I would have to say I love a good cream contour. In my opinion a cream contour leaves my skin looking that much more seamless and sculpted. I prefer a cream contour because I believe it looks more subtle, radiant, and leaves a natural glow on the skin because of the creamy texture of the product. If you’ve already played around with a powder contour and are looking to expand your skills, cream contour would be the next step for you. When using a cream bronzer it's important to start with a little bit of product and build up as you go to achieve the look you’re going for. When applying you want to draw lines where you’re looking to sculpt or add color like your jawlines, right below your cheeks, and your forehead. The key to a seamless look is to properly blend the product into your skin by lightly tapping your brush onto those lines you created until they completely disappear. I recommend waiting to use any powdered products until after you apply your cream contour, if you use it any time before you cream contour it may result in a patchy look and you’ll have to remove your makeup and start again. Finding a good cream contour product can be overwhelming with all the products out here so here are some of my favorites:

·       KKW Contour Stick (My Shade: Light / Medium Contour)

·       Maybelline FIT Me! Foundation Stick (My Shade: Coconut)

Powder Contour favorites:

·       Tarte Park Ave Princess Contour Palette

·       Fenty Beauty Bronzer ( My Shade: I$land Ting)

·       Kylie Cosmetics Bronzer ( My Shade: Tequila Tan)

Now that you have the right tools and knowledge contour with confidence my loves
